Zoom - Audio Problem

No one can hear you in Zoom?

1. Check that you are not muted

  • Sometimes the teacher will automatically mute all the students when they enter the meeting.
  • Look for the microphone icon in the bottom left hand corner. If it's crossed out, click it to unmute. If you are on a mobile app, you will need to "join with audio" to be able to speak or hear sound.

2. Check that you connected with audio

  • Make sure when you are joining a meeting you have not checked the "Don't connect to audio"

3. Check the audio source in Zoom

  • If you are on Zoom and no one can hear you, click on the up arrow to expand the audio button. You'll see the options available to see if you are using the correct microphone.
  • Most likely you should have a check mark by Same as System (Default - Internal Mic)

4. Check audio settings in Zoom

  • Again, click on the up arrow to expand the audio button
  • Choose Audio Settings
  • Make sure the check is next to "Automatically join audio by computer when joining a meeting"

5. Maybe it's not a Zoom problem...check your audio settings on your Chromebook

  • On the bottom right of your Chromebook, click on the small white nework triangle icon
  • Look at the audio volume
  • Click on the arrow next to the volume slide
  • Make sure that your output is connected to the correct device ( internal speaker or headphones)

6. Sometimes a hard reset will work...

For most Chromebooks, follow the steps below:

1. Turn off your Chromebook

2. Press and hold Refresh  + tap Power

3. When your Chromebook starts up, release Refresh
