Chromebook - Connectivity Issues

Are you having trouble connecting your Chromebook to your WiFi?

  • If you are having difficulty connecting to your network, make sure that you are not surrounded by other devices that might be pulling from the same network. Reducing the number of devices being used at the same time sometimes frees up the network to allow for your Chromebook to easily connect.

  • If you are still having issues with your Chromebook’s connectivity you can try toggling bluetooth off, clearing your cache or, if everything else fails, powerwashing your device

To toggle Bluetooth off:

  1. Click the clock in the bottom right corner.
  2. Click where it says “Bluetooth” to toggle it to “off”.

To clear the cache:

  1. Open a New Tab at the top of your Chrome Browser.
  2. Press CTRL + H
  3. Choose “Clear Browsing Data”.
  4. Tick all of the boxes, then under “Time Range” choose “All Time”.
  5. Click “Clear Data”

To Powerwash your device:

  1. At the Sign-In screen (Either by signing out or restarting your device) press CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + R and choose “Yes”.
  2. Once your Chromebook has finished Powerwashing you will need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Once your Chromebook has been reconnected to Wi-Fi it should automatically ask you to “Accept and Continue”, then re-enroll your device.
  4. Once it finishes Enrolling your device, you’ll click “Done” and it will bring you to the login screen.

General Wifi Suggestions:

  • Position yourself as close as possible to your wireless router.
  • Restart your router if it has not been restarted in a while - this can sometimes improve service.
  • Suggest that your children have as few tabs open in their chromebooks as possible.
  • Suggest they turn off their camera or audio if not needed during a Meet
  • See if it helps to have the power cable plugged in during the Meet - that helps a lot with a lot of teacher laptops.
